Virtual Open Exhibition July 2020

Featuring bronze sculptures by thirty artists, cast at Talos Art Foundry.

About the exhibition

Most of these bronze sculptures, from monumental to table top centre piece, are available for sale. Please contact Richard at Talos Art Gallery.

Launch party

How did soldier Dave Heyhoe react when he saw Treo, his beloved military dog, in bronze? Why did a family commission a donkey sculpture? When are leaves cheeky?

The artists tell the stories of their sculptures when they gathered online, in July, to have a chat with gallery owner, Richard Atkinson-Willes and celebrate the launch of this online exhibition.

'Sweet Breath of Earth' - life-size child by Nicola Ravenscroft

People

Although figurative, there is a vast range of subject: from an army regiment through the ages, to a comment on peace, a Henry Moore/Anton Chekhov inspired sculpture, the mythical Icarus and a dramatic arc dancer. The torso of Andrew blur the line into portraiture.

Bust of Sir Ranulph Fiennes by Melanie Legge

Portraits

These portraits begin with youth: the golden eight year old, the bas relief of a young woman, a beautiful dusky turquoise patina of a young man, affectionate bronzes of Caspar and James, before moving onto the familiar faces of ice-encrusted Sir Ranulph Fiennes and Lester Piggott, crop in hand, ready to race.
